Personal Notes: The stories I read and reports I
heard of the Tour de France were intriguing to me.
What was this bicycle race I heard about every
summer as I rode my bike around playing baseball
and hanging out with friends?
In the summer of 1984 I sat and watched in awe as
Alexi Grewal won the Olympic road race.
I wanted to race bikes after that but had no idea how
to get started. One day while out riding I ran into a
local club racer who told me about Tuesday night
races. I went and got dropped on the first lap - but I
was hooked!
I took a fall two years later, quit, and started racing
motorcycles. After breaking my leg playing hockey, I
was back on my trainer for rehabilitation. It gave me
the bug to try bike racing again and have been at it
ever since.
I am now on my third team. MOS Racing is the most
unique venture I’ve been a part of. The friendships
and relationships that have developed over the
years and the battles in victory as well as defeat are
all events in my life that wouldn’t exist if it were not
for the bike. I hope to continue to enjoy them all for
years to come - even after I stop racing.

Based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Team MoSR is
comprised of 30 riders between the ages of 11 and 82.
In 2011, we added a 16-member Women of Steel Tri
Team, which has grown to nearly 30 members in just
one year.
Men of Steel Racing is committed to getting more riders
of all ages and abilities on the road and introducing
new sponsors to bicycle racing. We got a cool name
and we admit it helps us promote a race for steel
frames only. But it also describes the strength and
heart of our team.
Team MoSR represents the Men of Steel Racing Club,
which has members across the country and a few
international members who support our mission.
